There are many different exercises that one can do to improve their vertical leap which have the similar purpose and that is to increase your vertical. Do the following exercises carefully and patiently, else you may not get the desired result. Even if you fail a couple of times it is okay, because you will learn more at the end of the process.
SQUAT LOW AND ANKLE JUMP:
The exercise name suggests, one needs to squat down quite low and do a jump. Once you squat, stay on your toes. One should not rest on their heels because this may not be effective in giving you a higher leap. Stay in the squat position and try not to get too high which may make your legs straight. Keep your legs as close as possible to your chest. When bouncing, use as much force as possible. This will not only give you a higher leap but also strong legs. The more you practice, the better you will get. For further effectiveness go as low as possible. It may seem strenuous and hard at first, but it is worth it.
Some more pointers that may help you to jump higher are start of by jumping off your right foot with your left leg in the air and then land on your right leg. Now step forward and jump off your left foot while the right one is in the air. Continue this all the way on the track or the court. Again as in the previous exercise, ensure that you push as hard as you can.
Visualize a box in front of you on the ground and the corners points are about 2 feet apart. Number the corner points from one to four in your mind. Stand on number 1 and jump on 2 with both of your feet together. Next step is to jump on the side, that’s number 3. Do not turn your body, you need to jump sideways. Then jump backwards on 4 and then sideways to 1.
Now do the other way, which is anti-clockwise. Keep repeating in the order like 1,2,3,4 and then 4,3,2,1. ‘Keep your feet together. You can add some variation to this exercise by doing with one foot. Then switch and do the same with other foot. This exercise is also called as 4-star exercise.
